About Duane

Duane and his partner of 18 years have three beautiful children and live in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area.  He works with national and local adoptions agencies to raise awareness of same sex adoptions.

He is a certified Executive and Personal Coach by both the International Coaching Federation and the CaPP Institute.  He is also a  Certified  Master Trainer and Facilitator by both Franklin Covey and Leadership Strategies.

Implementing leadership development solutions that link individual effectiveness to organizational performance has been the focus of Duane Taylor’s work for over 18 years in the areas of Fund Development, Leadership, Health Care Finance, Operations, Health Policy, Strategic Planning, Board Governance, Health Information Technology and Public Policy. He possess extensive experience providing technical assistance and trainings for various corporations, non-profit and federal agencies in the areas of: Fund Development, Leadership, Management, Conflict Resolution, Strategic Planning, Project Management, Fiscal Management, Team Building and Organizational Development.  Additionally, he has extensive expertise in executive coaching, career management and cultural competency. Drawing from a deep understanding of human behavior and organizational structure, Duane coaches executives from mid-level to C-level management to perform more effectively by assisting them in tapping into their personal greatness. Through his successfully proven coaching process and unique style, many executives have developed the vital tools to reach their full potential, often exceeding the expectations of their employer. In addition to coaching, Duane offers facilitation services for strategic planning retreats and various meetings as well as seminars and programs on topics ranging from: Effective Communication; Management and Leadership Skills for Managers; Effective Team Building; Addressing Cross Generational Workforce Issues and Diversity and Cultural Competency.

Duane holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Hampton University  and has a Master’s in Public Policy and a Master’s Certification in Public Health from the University of Chicago and earned a Juris Doctorate from the American University.   Duane’s coaching experience spans organizations in diverse industries, including Financial Services, Legal Services, Non-Profit, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, and Managed Care organizations in North America. He is certified Executive and Personal Coach from the CaPP Institute, Certified Franklin Covey Facilitator in Leadership and certified to administer and interpret a wide variety of personality assessments and inventories. He is also certified with the International Coaching Federation. He is a member of the National Speaker Association

Duane’s professional career has encompassed a number of diverse and challenging assignments, including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Americare and Hospice of Northern Virginia, respectively, and positions of SVP, senior consultant and principal with high profile consulting, executive coaching and organizational enhancement firms.  Duane was a Senior Director of Contracts at George Washington Health Plan, where he led a team of lawyers in professional negotiations and arbitration with Legal Counsel and client services. As a Principal Consultant with the Taylor-Wilks Group, he worked with various national organizations to provide training on Change Management, Emotional Intelligence, Organizational Development and Cultural Competency to more than 15,000 professional and coaches throughout the country. In addition to his consulting experience, Duane is also the Chief Executive Officer of Mid-Atlantic Assocation of Community Health Centers, which is the regional Primary Care Association that represents the interest of Federally Qualified Health Centers in the state of Maryland and Delaware. 

Select Coaching Client Results

  • Created a national coaching program for Non Profit Executives in North America. The program has provided coaching services to over 500 nonprofit executives throughout the US, including US territories of Puerto Rico and Panama.
  • Coached the senior leader in Latin American based Banking Company through a successful change management process. The leader was responsible for multiple projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. Through provided tried methods of coaching and mediation techniques, was able to enhance the coaching skills of the executive to effectively help them and their managers throughout a difficult period of time.
  • Coached a SVP of Contracting at a National Health Insurance Organization develop and practice effective communication and leadership skills which yielded increased collaboration by other departments and greater success shared by her department.
